About Marie
Marie Sauze is a French soprano who has performed across Europe and the United States with her versatile performances in opera, musical theater, and folk music. A graduate of Luther College and the Cours Florent theater program in Paris, she has performed such roles as Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), and Fantine (Les Misérables).
Now sharing her time between Paris and Chicago, Marie is a proud member of Consonance – Chicago Choral Artists, where she contributes her talents to a rich repertoire blending classical masterworks and contemporary compositions. She is also a QueerPOPERA Core Artist, a pop-up opera company dedicated to showcasing the diverse narratives of the LGBTQ+ community through the emotive power of opera. Her solo and ensemble work have taken her to venues in France, the Czech Republic, Italy, Slovenia, and beyond.
Marie is also half of the French-American folk duo The Maidans, performing with her wife, Aidan Spencer. Together, they share a passion for blending genres, creating music that bridges their love for folk traditions, opera, and musical theater.
When not on stage, Marie teaches music and serves as a communications specialist for Bach Cantata Vespers and Consonance – Chicago Choral Artists, where she designs newsletters and connects audiences with the vibrant world of choral music. She can also be found enjoying a good book, taking photos, writing, and making comics.
